Chin Students’ Union Conference and 11th General Election was successful

The Chin Students' Union-India (CSU) conference was held on 15 August 2012 in New Delhi, India where more than 30 participants including the senior students, advisors and invited guests from the Chin community attended.  The event is organized once in every two years in a bid to discuss the opportunities and challenges confronting the Chin students in India and find ways to help and elucidate education and social problems of Chin people, welfare, cooperation and solidarity among Chin students across the world. In the one day Conference, the CSU had amended its constitution and elected the leaders for the 2012-2013 academic year.  This year, the committee was said to have included other programs for encouraging the people in a way that they can develop a better knowledge about the Chin Students Leader Salai Tin Maung Oo who was assassinated by General Government on 26 June 1976.



"We are very happy to see all the participants from different colleges with different background come and sit together, and reported 2010-2012 activities including financial," said one of the advisor members of CSU(India) in New Delhi.

The CSU (India), formed in 1 October 1995 in New Delhi, is an independent and non-profit organization, aim to reform a stable Chin Students’ Union in Chin State, dedicated to promoting and standing up for the common causes of the Chin people, the educational opportunities and capacity development of Chin students, as well as cooperation, solidarity and unity among Chin people, advocating on behalf of the people for equality and self-determination in the Union of Burma together with other minority co-founder of the Union and is committed to working towards the promotion and preservation of Chin culture, literature, and heritages.
